Anei Goes to Claim A Bounty.
Mission: Claim The Bounty
Rank: A
Description: There has been a bandit invading a small village within the distance, pillaging it of all the yen it has. Faithfully, they have saved enough yen to lay a bounty upon the Bandit. Your mission is to rid the villagers of their problem, The Bandit. The Bandit has the skills, or jutsus, up to B-rank, but is only able to use Water and Lightning. He's very relient on his sword though. This mission seems like a lower rank, but the Bandit is an expert in Substitution and Stealth jutsu, so you may want to be careful, cause he is capable of Zabuza- ranked stealth. You have any right to kill him, or let him live, but putting him into a jail. That is your only objective, then claim the Bounty from the villagers.
Other Note: If the Bandit gets away with the money of the villagers, harms any villagers, or manages to get away, without being killed, or jailed, this mission is failed. One of us, the mods or Admins, will perform as the Bandit.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Anei entered the village, looking around his neck turning just as much as his head did to help get a better view of his surroundings. The village looked humble, not too large, not too small. Something stirred within Anei seeing the slightly run down houses, even a couple on the outskirts burned. He paused for a moment, letting a gloved hand clench in his hair, as if it had begun to ache. He soon shook off the feeling however and made his way to the market. He had heard that there was a bounty out here for a troublesome rogue ninja. Anei's funds were running rather low, and his sorry excuse for an organization had nothing for him to do, so it only made sense that he collect. He reached the market place and stopped at one of the fruit vendor's stands, smiling warmly at the person running it.
"Hi there. I hear you all have a problem with rogue ninja..."
Re: Anei Goes to Claim A Bounty.
The man turned to look at Anei, giving him a bewildered stare, no doubt due to his abnormal appearance. Nevertheless he responded quickly, all be it quietly. Clearly the local populace was very spooked by the bandit.
"You heard right. I suppose you'd want to claim the bounty then, too?"
Anei nodded, still smiling pleasantly, his gloved fingers clenching and un-clenching with his anticipation of a pleasant battle. The man sounded as if he weren't the first one interested in collecting.
"There are others?"
The man snorted at this, a fearful glint coming into his eye as he pointed a finger down the street to the graveyard, barely visible through a stone arch.
"There were."
Anei nodded solemnly and gave the man a reassuring smile, his hands meanwhile moving around to make sure he had all of his equipment, already trying to formulate a plan of some sort. It would be easiest to find the target if he waited here at the village for him to attack again. That would also give him the advantage of being able to lay several traps. But that also endangered the villagers during the battle that was likely to follow. If he hunted the man down around the outskirts of the village he minimized the risk to other people and kept it close and personal, but had the disadvantage of having no preparation time or area knowledge.
"What can you tell me about him? I heard he is an assassin type, very stealthy. Where is he usually sighted outside the village? Likely whereabouts?"
Re: Anei Goes to Claim A Bounty.
The man shook his head and rolled his eyes, returning none of the warmth Anei was trying to show him.
"No, of course no one knows where he's hiding or he'd be gone by now."
Anei nodded slowly, deciding he would get no information as he liked, only the rumors he had heard. Stealthy assassination type, water jutsu...It would have to do. Anei thanked the man for his time and wandered around the village. For the most part it was pretty basic, dirt streets and scattered clusters of residential buildings and businesses, no distinguishing features other than the village entrance, which like two sets of large gateways, with no actual gate door, essentially four pillars arranged in a square with the village name on a sign above them. Anei checked his equipment once more. A dozen or so shuriken, again as many kunai, a large wheel of small steel string, a small stack of exploding tags, his newly purchased senbon, which he doubted he would use, and his straight katana. Anei glanced around and smiled a little, pulling out his steel string. He leapt up to the higher part of the pillars and began tying string around them, weaving a little each time he jumped, sometimes able to work faster standing on the sign itself. In the end there was a mesh grid above, worked inbetween the four pillars forming a square. He then proceeded to do something similar on the two horizontal sides between the pillars. They were almost invisible, no light hitting the high strings, as they were in the shadow of the sign, and the to other grids hidden from view by anyone entering or exiting. A little over half his string already consumed, he tied what remained onto the loops of all his kunai and made sure they were in his bag without tangling. The sun had begun to sink behind the mountains as he did so, he wondered if the bandit would come tonight or if he would have more time to prepare. Just in case, he jumped up to the top of the sign, sitting there where he had a good view of the village and the area surrounding it.
Re: Anei Goes to Claim A Bounty.
After awhile of waiting, the sun sunk all the way below the mountains and night set in.
There was a piercing wail, from the other side of the village. Several lights turned on and a cacophany of sounds, mostly screams went up.
Re: Anei Goes to Claim A Bounty.
Anei looked up, sighing softly and jumping down off of the sign. He whipped out his kunai and standing between the first two pillars, threw them side to side, creating a web of steel string on the third of the four sides, the only opening now leading into the village. With any luck he might lure the bandit into it. And then...
Working quickly he drew his blade, drawing it across his arm and let the blood drip, slamming his hands down onto the ground.
"Kuchiyose no Jutsu!"
A poof of smoke and Kushin the spider appeared before him, looking around curiously. Anei did not bother waiting around to explain, but ran off into the village, shouting back.
"Hide on the strings above, and wait for the right moment!"
Kushin chittered in annoyance but after glancing up, his spider eyes saw the threads and climbed the pillar, resting on the sign next to the strings, seeing mesh wiring forming a square box, the only side not blocked the one leading into the village.
Anei raced to the other end of the village, leaping from roof top to roof top, landing a few feet away from the nearest house with lights on, looking to see what had happened, making sure to keep to the shadows, thankful he wore so much black, and that there was no wind to blow his coat about him and give away his position.
Re: Anei Goes to Claim A Bounty.
A tall man, hefting a humongeous sword over his shoulder seemed to be intimidating one of the women from the village. There were other villagers watching, some angrily but most of them were too afraid to do anything.
The man leaned towards the woman, reaching back as if to grab his sword. She cowered away from him, crying quietly.
Re: Anei Goes to Claim A Bounty.
Anei frowned, and jumped to the side, onto another roof, getting himself behind the man, who was clearly the bandit everyone was having problems with. Why the man bothered to intimidate a helpless woman Anei could not guess, but that was unforgivable. Holding his blade in a backhanded style he jumped down from the roof, as fast as he possibly could, moving even faster than the gust of wind that rushed through the cool night air, landing with a soft thud behind the man with the enormous sword. He wasn't sure just how good this man's stealth techniques were, but it would be best to end this quickly if he could, with so many innocents in the area. No sooner had his feet hit the ground than he went to push his blade through the man's back, around where his heart should be.
Description:
As the name suggests, this technique is simply a very quiet method of killing an opponent, usually from behind with a blade. Additionally, because the user is very silent, it cannot be defended against. The user will often slit their opponent's throat, preventing any cry that might give them away. Zabuza was a master of this technique, and was even good enough to track and kill opponents through sound alone.
Re: Anei Goes to Claim A Bounty.
Your attack hit, and your sword sunk deep into the mans back. But suddenly water gushed everywhere, as the man lost his form and turned back into water.
The village people stare at you in shock, they back up and huddle together.
Re: Anei Goes to Claim A Bounty.
Anei closed his eyes, his smile fading sadly. So it would not be quite so simple. He regained his composure quickly, eyes warily scanning the surrounding area. Sometimes the fools that lived in this world surprised him. He waved his hand in the air.
"Get inside you fools, lock your doors, kill the lights and stay hidden. I'll find him..."
So saying Anei jumped back up onto a roof eyeing all the villagers warily waiting for them to comply, sinking low ready to bolt in the direction of any trouble. He had no love for these people but they would be more willing to pay him if no one got hurt...
Re: Anei Goes to Claim A Bounty.
Anei looked around warily, fingers flexing and drumming on the hilt of his blade. It was far too quiet. Had the bandit retreated, seeing his clone dispatched so easily? Was he lurking in the shadows somewhere avoiding detection? Setting traps? Anei didn't know that much about him, perhaps Anei had been placed under some genjutsu? The possibilities were endless and Anei strained to think of a strategy for each and every one of them. He hopped a few buildings away, landing on top of one of the taller ones, keeping a firm hand on his blade and looking around over the scene of the incident, his heart thumping. Normally it was he in control, there had to be a way to turn the situation around...
Re: Anei Goes to Claim A Bounty.
Anei heard the whistling just in time. Everything had been so quiet, a soft breeze in the cool night air, a soft whistling barely audible. And then from nowhere the sound of metal on metal clanged loudly, shattering the silence like a clap of thunder. Anei had managed to turn just in time, holding one of his hands on the flat of his blade to strengthen the block as the other man's large blade slammed into it. His sword stopped the attack but the pure momentum of the swing sent Anei flying back, skidding across the roof of the next building. He rose quickly as he could, fingers twitching on the hilt of his katana eagerly as he wiped off his coat, fluttering very lightly in the soft breeze. In the darkness, all he could really see of the man was his silhouette.
"I had heard you were skilled in the ways of assassination, but even in the dead silence of night, you almost got me. I seem to have underestimated you."
Re: Anei Goes to Claim A Bounty.
The man didn't say anything, favoring instead to run through a set of hand seals as lightening started to crackled around him, forming a sort of armor. Then as soon as the jutsu solidified the man raced forward, swinging his huge sword vertically this time.
Anei smile a little seeing the man clearly did not like to exchange words. Very well, straight to business then. He saw the lightning armor forming and decided to try it out, pulling a senbon from his pouch as he leapt nimbly to the side of the vertical strike, throwing the senbon at the man's chest, aiming for a big target since he couldn't use them that well, also moving so that so long as the bandit followed, they would get closer to the village gates, taking great care to make sure it didn't look like he was leading him anywhere.
The man easily knocked the senbon away with his sword. He followed you though, trying to cut at you again with a swath of fast slashes that belied the weight of his sword.
Re: Anei Goes to Claim A Bounty.
Anei, being a lightning user, didn't want to risk directly connecting himself to that lightning armor. It still had to be tested. Anei narrowly dodged the first two slashes, thankful he was so flexible. He took steps backwards towards the village gate, slowly but surely, making it merely appear as though he was being forced back. The next few strikes he deflected with his smaller sword, though it took great effort to divert blows of that force. With his free hand he pulled two shuriken from his coat hurling them at the man despite the close range they were at, even as he did so Anei's block of the next swipe jolted him a bit, and he took a jump backwards again, looking shaken.
"Very impressive."
Re: Anei Goes to Claim A Bounty.
They were too close for the ninja to dodge the shuriken and they hit his armor. Lightening arced, and the shuriken skittered off to the side smoking. The lightening seemed duller now, moving slower.
The bandit angrily swung his sword at you, quicker than before. Trying to back you up against a wall.
OOC - I know that one attack is supposed to dispel the lightening armor... but really? An attack like that? Sorry.
Re: Anei Goes to Claim A Bounty.
Anei slapped his hands together quickly, keeping his blade in his hands even as he formed a seal, performing the replacement jutsu with the shuriken that had just dulled the armor. Still in close proximity, he swung his blade behind him at the man's side quickly even as the large sword sliced through the shuriken. Anei had had a revelation. Through his armor gloves, even if the electricity arched down his blade it wouldn't affect him. In the meantime with his free hand he tossed a senbon straight up into the air.
The man threw himself to the side to avoid your katana. He jumped to his feet and spun around to face you. Quickly throwing some kunai at the senbon trying to knock it out of the air. And then he ran forward trying to squewer you.
Re: Anei Goes to Claim A Bounty.
Anei watched, impressed, as the man managed to knock even a small senbon from the air with a kunai. seeing a rather straightforward stab coming at him, Anei smiled. With a sword that large, that was never going to work. He nimbly leapt upward, whipping out a few more shuriken , landing nimbly on top of the mans blade and throwing them straight at him before jumping off further towards the gate before he was flung from the sword.
Re: Anei Goes to Claim A Bounty.
Again the attack was too close for him to dodge and the shuriken sizzled as they hit his armor. They were spat out and left off to the side smoking just as the last ones were, and his armor looked duller.
Re: Anei Goes to Claim A Bounty.
Anei was still in midair and could not dodge efficiently. Even as his feet hit the rooftop the shark shaped blast hit him squarely in the chest, launching him backwards. Luckily with his last move, the blast knocked him back towards the gate. He landed hard on the dirt right in front of the two closer pillars, the only ones that had no set of wires between them. The breath knocked out of him he scowled coughing up water, his eyes going icy cold staring up at the bandit. This water was going to ruin every bit of leather he was wearing...He stood, some of the dirt now mud on his jacket, flourishing his blade to shake the water off. Let the bandit think he was letting his rage get control...Let the bandit think Anei was getting careless, then he would not be cautious... Anei pulled as many shuriken as he could hold, throwing them sloppily towards the bandit on purpose.
Anei backed into the square formed by the pillars as the bandit advanced, then as he swung, jumped over him with a flip, spinning quickly on his foot, moving faster than before, slamming his elbow towards the bandit trying to knock him more fully into the square he had created.
